Stories from when I was young and possibly dumb

Image
So, I felt like writing something, and I figured it might be interesting to talk about some of the stuff that happened to me while I was younger. One of the earlier things I remember happened when I was in early elementary school - 1st or 2nd grade. At the time, I went to a Christian school. Not a Catholic school, mind you - just a school that happened to include a Christian curriculum. Now, being my thoughtless, carefree self, I had brought in a toy to school (possibly for show-and-tell, but I'm not certain). In particular, it was a LEGO set from the BIONICLE toy line. To be even more specific, one of these guys: They were these bugs called Nui-Rama. You could hold one by the stinger-tail thing, and if you pressed a button on the back, the wings would flap. They were rad. Well, anyway, I was super excited about bringing it, and just had to show one of the teachers. I remember I showed off the wing-flapping thing, and then showing that the arms and claws could move. I did...

Games I like, and why I like them

So, I feel like if I want this think to keep going, I should probably post something even when there's nothing I particularly want to say. So, I guess I'll just ramble for a bit. Maybe talk about games I like. So, I guess I'll start with a list of games that I really like: Antichamber Axiom Verge Crypt of the NecroDancer Freedom Planet The Witness Myst Fez Transistor Distance FTL: Faster Than Light Super Metroid Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ephemerid: A Musical Adventure Undertale Frozen Synapse Batman: Arkham City Dishonored Magicmaker Psychonauts And, I suppose I'll explain why I like each one. Antichamber subverts all the expectations that you have going into it. People familiar with first-person games have it the worst, because Antichamber was specifically designed to mess with your preconcieved notions of how it works. Walking back through a doorway might not lead to the same place you were before, and some doors are only open if you don't...

Why driving sucks

So, I'll probably never learn to drive. Yes, I'm older than 20 and I don't know how to drive. I'll probably never learn, and I don't want to. I've never even tried to learn. Why? Because I'm not stupid. If I ware behind the wheel, I'd be a danger to myself and everyone around me. For one thing, I have a hard time paying attention to one thing for a long time. ADHD, they call it. Basically, rather than paying attention to my surroundings, I'd be thinking about a Youtube video I watched earlier, or about what to have for lunch, or something like that. Yeah, I know some people think about stuff like that when they drive. For one thing, they've been driving for long enough that it's mostly automatic for them. Secondly, they're idiots, and they're going to get themselves killed one day. Also, I'm not sure if it's related to the ADHD, but my situational awareness is godawful. Even in FPS games, I'm utterly unable to be...

Catcher in the Rye and my career path

So, I was reading the TV Tropes page for this indie game called Night in the Woods , okay? So, I've watched a little bit of it, and I'm immediately on board with the attitude of the protagonist, Mae. And in one of the sections, in the YMMV tab, it describes her as "A female Holden Caulfield". And, of course, the name was a link to the TV Tropes page for Catcher In The Rye. Now, I've never actually read the book. Somehow in high school, I avoided reading both Catcher In The Rye and Lord Of The Flies, which were replaced with Crabbe and The Stone Angel. I just looked it up, and both of those books are Canadian, so that might be why. Anyway, although I haven't fully read the book, I've seen a few quotes and such from the main character, who is the aforementioned Holden Caulfield. My conclusion? Well, you know that Literally Me copypasta that went around in 2015 ? Yeah. The thing is, wherever I read people's views on Holden, they seem to nearly univ...

I guess the post title goes here?

Hi, I'm a 20-something college student from Canada, and I guess this is my blog. I never really thought that I'd be the sort of person to write a blog, honestly. All the blogs I've ever seen seem to be focused on some topic that the author is an expert at, and that certainly doesn't apply to me. I'm pretty inconsistent with remembering things, so I might just forget about this whole thing after a while. Don't expect anything of any real quality, either. Honestly, I don't know what you should expect. I'll probably just write stuff here whenever I feel like I have something to say, and you can read it or not. I don't really care.
